It had been about five years since we vacationed in Mexico. We found a resort we like in Puerto Vallarta, all-inclusive and right on the beach. We have not been back as there have been some changes in the custody schedules, many pets to take care of, and pandemics. The time was right to book a trip and by late February any Midwesterner is ready for a healthy dose of warmth.

Our idea of a vacation in Mexico is quite simple. We always stay at the resort. It is all-inclusive, meaning all food and beverage are provided. The entire goal is to lie within view of the Pacific Ocean, read or nap, collect some sunshine, and drink a responsible amount of adult beverages throughout the day. This is my chance to unplug for the week and get some reading done.

We do like to collect sea glass along the beach. Every time we have been to a beach, we always collect sea glass. Our collection is slowly growing. I didn’t know sea glass existed until our first trip.

Sea Glass

I grew up with no vacations and only in this chapter of my life did I start going on them. I still feel some amount of guilt for having the privilege and I know most do not. I do think there are two types of vacations, one focused on seeing many things and another focused on recharging. I do think there is value to both, but as I get older, that value for me is shifting more towards the recharge side.
